Theory of Mind is the ability to understand that other people have their own thoughts, beliefs, feelings, desires, and intentions—and these may be different from our own.

“I understand that you have a mind different from mine.”
Thinkers/researchers associated with it
David Premack & Guy Woodruff (1978) — introduced the term “Theory of Mind” in their famous work on whether chimpanzees have a theory of mind.
Heinz Wimmer & Josef Perner (1983) — developed the famous false-belief task to study Theory of Mind in children.
Simon Baron-Cohen — extensively studied Theory of Mind, particularly in relation to autism.
