Repetition hypnosis

August 7, 2026 | by aashishgautam265@gmail.com

Repetition hypnosis is not a formal psychological term, but it usually refers to the idea that repeating words, ideas, or suggestions many times can strongly influence a person’s thoughts, attention, or behavior.

In psychology

Repeated exposure to an idea can produce the mere-exposure effect, studied by Robert Zajonc:

  • The more often we see or hear something, the more we tend to like it or accept it as familiar.

This is one reason advertisers repeat brand names and slogans

Examples

  • A commercial repeats the same slogan until you remember it.
  • A student repeats positive affirmations every morning.
  • A political campaign repeats the same message across speeches and advertisements.
