Long-term memory

September 22, 2026 | by aashishgautam265@gmail.com

Long-term memory is the memory that keeps information for a long time. It can store information for days, years, or even a lifetime. For example, you may remember your childhood home, your first teacher, or what you learned about Plato years ago.

Long-term memory has a very large capacity. Learning, understanding, repetition, and meaningful experiences can help information stay in it. For example, if you study political theory many times and understand the ideas, you may remember them for years. In simple words, long-term memory is the brain’s storage for information that lasts.
