“You Can Make a Difference!” Easy summary

This passage is about a kind and caring girl named Isis Johnson. When she was only four years old, she saw pictures on television of children in Ethiopia suffering from hunger and famine. She felt very sad and wanted to help them.

First, Isis asked her grandmother if they could send the extra food from their fridge to Ethiopia. Her grandmother explained that this was not possible because Ethiopia was very far away and the food would spoil. But Isis did not give up. She then thought about the hungry children in her own town and decided to help them instead.

Isis went from house to house, asking neighbours to donate food for hungry children. Her small effort slowly grew into something big. This is how the Isis Johnson Foundation started. The foundation now helps thousands of poor people in the United States by giving them food, clothes, and other necessary items.

Today, Isis is eighteen years old and dreams of becoming a doctor so that she can help sick and suffering people. She believes that everyone can help others, no matter whether they are rich or poor. All that is needed is care and kindness.

The passage teaches us that we should not think our efforts are too small. Even small actions can make a big difference if we truly care.
