Throw Out Impure Thought story Summary

The story says that the Devil once called a meeting of all evil forces like anger, greed, envy, and jealousy. Each one was proud of how many people they had harmed. But in the end, impurity was declared the most dangerous of all. The Devil said that impurity is the strongest weapon because even one impure thought in the mind can destroy a person’s peace and character.

The writer then remembers Sadhu Vaswani, a great spiritual teacher. When Sadhu Vaswani was a student, he carried a pin. Whenever a bad or angry thought came into his mind, he would prick himself to immediately remove that thought. This helped him stay mentally pure.

Inspired by him, the writer also developed a habit of stopping bad thoughts instantly. Whenever an impure thought came, he would slap himself to break the chain of thinking. When friends asked why he did that, he jokingly said it was because of a mosquito—but in truth, he meant that bad thoughts are more dangerous than mosquitoes.
