Perception is the process of interpreting and giving meaning to information we receive through our senses—such as seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and tasting.
In simple words: Perception = How we understand or interpret what we experience.
Two people see the same person sitting alone.
Person A thinks: “He looks sad.”
Person B thinks: “He probably wants to be alone.”
They see the same situation, but interpret it differently. That interpretation is perception.
Key idea: We don’t simply receive information from the world; our brain interprets it based on our experiences, beliefs, expectations, and emotions.
