Dignity of Job: Why Self-Respect Matters More Than Salary

We all search for the purpose of life. We read countless books, listen to wise words, and ponder deeply — yet often, the answer remains unclear. But after much thought, I have realized something simple, yet profound: one of life’s greatest purposes is to bring happiness to others. To touch someone’s life in a way that lifts them up. To be the reason someone smiles again.
We often get lost in grand philosophies and endless debates, forgetting the reality before our eyes. Is it not our duty to feed the hungry? To teach the illiterate? To give work to the unemployed? Can’t these be our life’s mission?
I believe they can. In fact, I believe they must. I have been blessed with good food every day, and the privilege of reading beautiful books, stories, and poetry. These gifts are not mine to keep — they are meant to be shared with those who have never had such opportunities.
Imagine if every person decided to give a part of their happiness to someone who had none. Imagine a world where sorrow is lessened simply because we chose to share what we have. That is the power we hold. That is the purpose we can choose.
So let us not just live for ourselves. Let us live to multiply joy, to spread kindness, and to light up lives wherever we go. For in giving, we discover the truest meaning of living.
