Every being in this world wants happiness, yet people avoid doing the very things that can bring happiness. First, we must understand the secret of happiness — how happiness truly comes.

The secret of happiness is like sowing seeds in the soil. Whatever crop we desire, we first plant the seeds of that crop into the earth. In the same way, a person who seeks happiness must first give happiness to others. This is the real secret of happiness.

Just as no crop can grow without sowing seeds, in the same way, without sharing happiness with others, you too cannot attain happiness. This is the law of existence: the one who gives is the one who receives. Whatever seeds a person sows, that is the harvest they will reap.

People desire happiness, yet they are sowing the seeds of suffering. They think badly of others, they humiliate those weaker than themselves, and still they expect happiness to come into their lives. This is impossible.

Then there is another category of people who say, “We have not harmed anyone.” But this is not merely about avoiding wrongdoing. It is about doing good. Until you have done something good for others, why would nature bless you with joy and happiness?

Just as no one receives a salary without working, in the same way, without giving happiness, no one can truly receive happiness.

That is why the Buddha says:“The doer of good lives happily in this world, and happily in the next.”
