I Have a Dream — A New Vision for Education

October 21, 2025 | by aashishgautam265@gmail.com

I have a dream — a dream to create a new kind of education system.I have seen this dream because our existing system has failed to heal human suffering, to solve the problems of real life, and to bring meaning and wisdom to our hearts.

It is disconnected from life — a set of lessons we memorize, not wisdom we live by. There is a vast gap between what we learn in schools and colleges and what we actually face in life.

Our syllabus is filled with facts but empty of values. We study formulas and theories, but we forget compassion and understanding. We have built machines, but not character. We have degrees, but not direction. And that is why our world is full of anxiety, depression, confusion, and despair — even among the highly educated.

But I have a dream — a dream of an education that touches both the mind and the soul.

First Step: Learning to Live, Not Just to Earn

In my vision, education will not only teach us how to make a living but how to live a life.

Students will learn how to face failure, overcome worry, and find purpose. They will study books like How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie, The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday, and the inspiring lives of great individuals who turned pain into power.

Because life will test everyone — and education must prepare us for those tests.

Second Step: The Wisdom of Books

In my dream, every child will have a subject called “Wisdom of Books.”

In this subject, students will read not only textbooks but the timeless works that awaken the heart — The Buddha and His Dhamma, As a Man Thinketh, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and The Top Five Regrets of the Dying.

Why should we limit education to mere academics? Why not introduce children to Tolstoy’s compassion, O. Henry’s humanity, and the wisdom of self-help and philosophy that transforms the way we live?

I still remember the lessons from those stories — they live within me — while most of what I learned in school is long forgotten. That is the power of true education — the kind that stays, inspires, and uplifts.

Third Step: Building Good Human Beings

For me, the ultimate goal of education is not success but goodness. It is not wealth but wisdom. It is not competition but compassion.

Education should nurture the heart before the head — it should teach every child that the highest purpose of life is to become a good, kind, and loving human being.

From the very first day of school, children should learn the values of empathy, honesty, and service. They should grow not only in intelligence but also in character.

Because a society filled with educated minds but empty hearts can never find peace.

My Vision for the Future

I dream of building a school — and one day a university — where education means more than exams and marks.Where students are taught not just what to think, but how to think. Not just how to earn, but how to live.Where books open not only the mind, but also the soul.

This is the education I dream of — an education that creates thinkers, dreamers, and doers. An education that produces not just professionals, but human beings. And I believe, with all my heart, that one day this dream will come true.
