Mind Awakens in Solitude

January 31, 2025 | by aashishgautam265@gmail.com

Solitude is a state where we detach ourselves from the world and turn inward.

The most valuable thing we possess is our mind. It is through this mind that humanity has made all the progress we see today. Every invention, every advancement, originates from the mind. It is what distinguishes us from animals and grants us the power to think.

But have you ever wondered—if we possess such a powerful mind, why do so many people live in poverty, helplessness, and unfulfilled dreams? Why is it that some individuals become great writers, scientists, and industrialists by harnessing their minds, while the majority struggle with misery?

The answer lies in how we use—or fail to use—this incredible gift. The human is act like a beggar who sits on a box filled with gold and diamonds, yet acts as though they have nothing. Instead of opening the box and using the treasure within, the beggar stretches out their hands, pleading for scraps. In the same way, most people live in despair, consumed by anger, self-doubt, and limiting beliefs, never realizing the immense power within them.

A major reason for this is that most people are unaware of their mind’s true potential, and even those who know often don’t understand how to use it.

Nature has given us our minds for free, and like anything that comes without cost, we fail to appreciate its value. On top of that, we are never taught how to use our minds effectively.

Here are the main reasons that prevent our minds from awakening:

Excuse a Lack of Time for Solitude

In today’s fast-paced world, people rarely take even an hour to sit quietly and look within. They have time for all kinds of distractions but not for self-reflection.

Modern technology has enslaved the human mind. From morning to night, people immerse themselves in their phones, televisions, and other gadgets, scattering their mental energy. A person can watch TV for 10 hours but struggles to sit quietly and meditate for just 10 minutes.

This is why, when someone does find themselves alone, they often feel anxious or depressed. They have become so accustomed to noise, crowds, and digital distractions that solitude feels unsettling.

Yet, history shows that no great discovery or invention was ever made in a crowd. It was always the work of individuals who cultivated inner stillness and awakened the power of their minds. However, today’s youth, instead of mastering their minds, let themselves be ruled by distractions. They neither know how to harness this great power nor show interest in learning.

To unlock this power, one essential practice is needed—solitude. Let’s explore how solitude can help us awaken our minds.

Make Time for Solitude

Every person has 24 hours in a day, and anyone who truly wishes to develop their mind and achieve something—both materially and spiritually—can dedicate at least one hour to solitude.

First, embrace solitude as a necessary part of your life. Don’t fear being alone; it is a blessing, not a curse.

During my time in solitude, I prefer to meditate. The simplest form of meditation is to observe your breath as it flows in and out. In a short while, your breathing will slow, and you will feel a deep sense of calm.

As you enter this state of stillness, you will discover the joy that already exists within you—something you may have been searching for in the material world outside.

Once you experience this inner joy, you unlock the door to the true power of your mind. From my experience, when I reach deep meditation, it becomes effortless to direct my mind and visualize my goals.

Einstein once said, “Imagination is a preview of life’s coming attractions.”

This is the best time to instruct your subconscious mind. Give it clear commands about what you want to achieve. Émile Coué, a French psychologist, treated thousands of people using the power of auto-suggestion. He taught his patients to repeat daily:

“Day by day, in every way, I am getting better and better.”

This simple affirmation transformed lives. If you want to elevate your mind, continuously feed it with positive and purposeful suggestions. When your mind is completely calm, it becomes receptive to your commands—and the key to that calmness is solitude.
